Widener University - Wikipedia
History. Widener University was founded in 1821 as a preparatory school for boys in Wilmington, Delaware and moved to West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1862. By act of assembly on April 8, 1862, the Pennsylvania legislature incorporated the school as a university under the name Chester County Military Academy.
